A Baker's Wish List
By indanila
As I stand baking in my little kitchen, with humble tools, almost prehistoric relics, I dream. Imagining the possibilities, I sketch. My sketch is a three tiered wonder with pearl accents, cornelli lace and beautiful sugar flowers. An elaborately detailed, perfectly executed work of art is hardly ever attained. It is often replaced by a cake that is a fraction of what it was meant to be. How can I live up to my baking potential without the proper tools? So I created a wish list. A lady can wish can't she! Any of these products would be a great gift for someone who enjoys cake decorating.
1. Cricut: You may have seen this product on late night infomercials. And if you are like me you may have even been tempted to purchase one although you are not into scrapbooking. Recently I discovered that the Cricut machine can also be used for gumpaste. It can cut create gumpaste fonts, and designs in various sizes with laser-like precision.
2. Airbrush: An airbrush is the easiest way to color a cake. Not only does it look cool but it can create a variety of color effects. The airbrush system is designed for cakes and uses edible paints in the compressor.
3. First Impression Molds: Cake decorators use molds to create borders, pearls, animals, flowers etc. There are many different kinds of molds on the market. Some people even cast there own molds or use soap molds. Number one on my mold wish list is a baby mold that would be wonderful for a baby shower cake.
4. SugarShack DVD: Sugarshack is a member of www.cakecentral. Many members of cakecentral have recommended these DVDs. These DVD's are great tutorials in fondant and icing buttercream.
5. KitchenAid 5QT Mixer: This mixer should probably on the top of my list. It is very versatile and has many attachments. It can even make pasta and homemade sausages. My dream KitchenAid would be in a burnt orange color. My Fave!
6. Edible Printer: I'm sure you have seen cakes with a photo on them. This is achieved with an edible printer or a regular printer with cartridges containing edible ink. These can create images for cookies, cakes and cupcakes. I would love to use them for logos.
7. Cutters: There are so many cutters available today. They range from simple cookie cutters to more complex gumpaste and fondant cutters. These are very valuable to those who want to make easy gumpaste flowers.

How interesting! I will never do anything so elaborate, but it certainly is fascinating to read about! :)
